AIPTEK ActionHD 5.0 MP Digital Video Camera Reviews

Great all-in-one package!, March 18, 2010
It's small, takes pictures and video, and it's HD!
Note: I bought mine used for $60 so my review may be more enthusiastic because of the deal at the time.
The video is really clear and does just as resourcefully if not better than analog camcorders. I can honestly say it's not as great as greater end HD camcorders but then again "you achieve what you pay for". The light doesn't do much upright at all. Low light shooting still isn't that discouraging. I would recommend using this in a well lit nouns or outside during the day. I've also seen a choppy look to some hasty panning shots. 720p is almost better than 1080 shooting. 1080 is not that much clearer and shooting in 720 save memory card space, also transfering to PC is quicker because of the smaller video files.
The camera is amazing. I have a Sony Cybershot that costs 4 times as much that is lately a little better than this little guy. Of coarse, you don't get any advanced features or equal quality. The flash works ok in short distances. There is no lens bonnet, you can't attach lenses or filters, but it's a really good point and shoot digital camera.
The audio tape feature works fine but really is useless. You might as well use the camcorder at low res. Audio within loud places distorts but is true with most cameras.
Memory card storage is awesome. It's cheap and reusable. Just buy one big card and that's all you'll ever requirement again. I've never had to trash a memory card for being worn out. Just verbs onto your PC and keep shooting.
The monitor is small but clear. Not recommended for those with seeing/reading problems. It is the with the sole purpose viewfinder. There is no other way to shoot. You can't turn it off to preserve freestyle life while shooting or else you can't see what you're shooting.
It feel good and sturdy but I don't feel confident contained by dropping it on any surface.
Reasonably quick startup/shutdown time.
The battery last enough for a days use, maybe 2. I recommend having 2 on hand though, for long shooting days or only just to be safe. They're cheap and can be found on Amazon. You can charge via USB or wall outlet.
TV or video/audio hookup is easy. Takes singular a minute. Cables included are good quality and work beside other stuff I own.
You have to buy additional software to win the shot video onto a DVD or Blue-ray disc. I haven't been able to use any pre-installed Microsoft Windows software to do this. This could upset some customers since software can cost upwards from $50. There is free stuff online that works ok too though. Look around in the past buying anything.
After figuring this gadget out, it's awesome. You can take it anywhere. I never hear of this brand but am surprised at how well this camera works for the price. Don't expect miracles but expect a good camera. I really similar to mine and am very pleased.
