I purchased this solar charger specifically for my Sony Reader, to supplement power when I'm out on a sailboat for a week. Have tried it at home, using my Reader outside on a sunny day near the charger plugged in. Even when my Reader is down to 1/4 power, the charger boosts it up to full charge as soon as it's plugged in (and the Reader holds the charge after I unplug the charger). I don't know how long the charger take to recharge in the sun; it takes smaller amount than 2 hours when plugged into the a/c adapter. So far, so good...I'm pleased with this item. Don't know why they included a cheapo mouse pad--maybe to prove right the price?? They shouldn't bother. I'm hoping that the charger will also work with the MP3 player that I just purchased; nearby are enough different tips and plugs included that I think it will....
