Great sound, April 26, 2010
This product has great audio quality, and a very stable connection. The battery life is less then ideal, but as long as you charge it before extended use you should be fine. It is pretty comfortable, but can be a little uncomfortable over extended use or if not positioned properly. Bluetooth head phones seem to be a hit or miss kind of thing, and there may be better ones out there, but this is definitely a safe bet if you want to go wireless.
Great product!, March 10, 2010
I have debated whether I would buy these headphones for about 3 months now. Reading some of the negative reviews and seeing the problems some were talking about made me apprehensive to buy. Well, I took the leap and bought the S9 HD White set and it has been thus far (about a week) been absolutely what I needed and wanted. Some say that they don't fit. I have a fairly large melon and they fit fine, they have a good selection of ear pieces to fit anyone's ears. They say that they don't work when outside..I am a fireman at an airport and on our down time we do a lot of cutting grass and other outdoors activities and let me tell you, they work great. I was afraid that the sound of the lawnmower and weed eater would drown out the sound or distort it...nope, sounds great. Every now and then the music cuts out, but its not often enough to even begin to annoy me. I think people are being far to picky with their wants, they expect things to work perfectly in every environment, its not going to happen, with any headphones much less wireless ones. The only thing I haven't had the opportunity to figure out is the issues people have with sweating, they say that it shorts them out. The manufacture says it has worked out this issue and it no longer exist, however people still claim it does. From what it looks, the ports are facing down so that sweat can't pool in the charging port, which looks promising, the ear piece covers the entire ear speaker, it butts up flush with another piece of rubber and appears to "almost" seal it off from sweat, the earpiece also puts the speaker a considerable distance away from your ear. I'm not a heavy sweater so I'm not real concerned with this at all, however people that sweat a lot should maybe take a look at the pictures to see it for themselves and determine if it will be an issue, worst comes to worst the manufacturer will refund or replace the headphones. Hope this helps.
Oh one other thing, I've seen problems with sellers sending used/refurbished units and advertising them as brand new. I bought mine from [...], I believe it was only one seller in particular that was doing this and I can't for the life of me remember (sorry). I do know that in the reviews of this particular seller for this item someone, actually more than a few wrote about it. Just an FYI.
AWESOME!, April 14, 2010
This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I bought this to listen to music from my IPhone when riding my motorcycle. Not only can I hear the music clearly over very loud exhaust, I can also make and receive calls, and the person on the other end can hear me as well. I highly recommend this product, especially if your a biker!
A Noticeable Improvement Over S9, September 4, 2010
I've been looking for a long time to buy Bluetooth stereo headphones for the workouts in the gym - I got tired of having to deal cords that would get tangled up during the workouts or would become a mess in the gym bag. When Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones came out I jumped at the opportunity to buy them since they were the first stereo Bluetooth headset with a form factor that is appropriate for wearing in public. (Most of the other ones are too big and just scream "Look at me, I am a dork!") Unfortunately, those headphones had several limitations, the worst one of which is that they are not waterproof and after about a year of use they almost inevitably stop working. I had gone through three pairs of them thus far - I would have loved if I could buy alternate headphones, but in terms of features and the look these are still some of the best on the market. I have finally decided to upgrade to the slightly more expensive (and newer) S9-HD model and since I bought them a few weeks ago, I have been extremely satisfied with them - for the most part. Here are a few pros and cons that I have come up with.
Pros:
1. Comfortable enough for a daily workout. Even with my moderately large head, I did not have much of a comfort issue with wearing them every day for a couple of hours. I would not recommend wearing them for more than three hours in a row though. But that would be the case with most headphones anyways.
2. Easy setup. I had no problem connecting them to either my cell phone/mp3 player or my laptop.
3. Decent range. As long as there is an uninterrupted line of sight between the linking device and the headset, you can use them on the other side of a large room or a smaller gym. Comes in handy when working out and don't want anything attached to any part of your body.
4. Decent music playback sound. This is one of the more noticeable areas of improvement over S9.
5. Decent battery life. For a relatively small device like this one, it was pleasing to find out that it did not have to be recharged more than a couple of times a week with standard use.
6. As a phone earpiece it is useful to have around the head headset because it improves stability a lot. All of my other earpieces fall out of my ears way too easily.
7. Being transferred from the mp3 player to the phone when receiving an incoming call is really useful and cool. This works with iPhone as well.
8. Improved and raised control buttons. They are much more accessible and not easily pushed by accident - this had been one of S9's weaknesses.
9. Much improved earpieces - they are very comfortable and easier on your ears.
10. The part of the headphones that touches your head is heavily rubberized. I hope this also means that these headphones are waterproof, or at least less likely to break down than S9.
Cons:
1. It would be really useful if these headphones were collapsible. In that case they could be taken with you in your pocket almost anywhere you go. Plus, it would avoid dangers of having them twisted while stored in your bag.
2. The stereo feature works only for music. When using them for calling, only the left earpiece delivers sound, which is sort of weird. This takes some time to get used to.
3. For some reason, when I linked them to my laptop, they got de-linked with my cell-phone. I had to go through the whole process again to have them back in the desired configuration.
4. When using it with iPhone, the track-skipping buttons don't work.
5. When using it with iPhone, the headphones don't work with all applications. This turned out to be annoying and inconvenient when I tried using them with Skype.
Did not care for it, March 30, 2010
I'm not sure who these were designed for, but as an average-sized adult male, these did not fit me well at all. I wanted something that would allow me some freedom of movement during exercise, but they did not seem secure enough- they felt as if they slip if I made a sudden movement of my head.
Functionally, they performed ok. The large "ear buds" sit pretty far outside the ear, but they seemed to be loud enough to carry sound. I did feel that the bass was lacking a bit.
For the price, I expected to be blown away, but I was not impressed.
best one ever, April 24, 2010
man this is the best out of the box product I ever had the sound quality makes you feel like your in the live concert. Buy one i'm looking for more colors or skins to match me up.
Great product! Only one minor concern, January 28, 2010
I've had these for about 3 months now, and have been completely satisfied. I use them for hours on end with no discomfort. One of the best features is the ability to pair with multiple devices at the same time. I regularly pair with my desktop PC to stream my local radio station via the internet and my cell phone. If a call comes in, the music stops, and I can answer my phone. When the call is ended, the music starts right back up. I've also been using these with Pandora on my Droid. Again, it works flawlessly. I can pause, fast-forward, etc... with the headphone controls. The battery life is fine for my usage (about 4 hours per day). My only concern is that the battery is not replaceable. After a certain number of charges, it will no longer hold a charge, and the headset will be useless. Of course this is the case with any LIon battery though.
Good quality, comfort lacking, April 12, 2010
The quality is good. The sound is good. I really like the controls. I have used it to connect to my blackberry storm and my computer. I am being a little extra critical, but the comfort is a little lacking. I like in the ear headsets. These lay just outside. So sometimes it takes a little adjusting to get the best sound. I also like to use them to listen to music before going to sleep. You will not lay in bed with these comfortably. Over all, easy to setup great controls good sound.
S9hd, February 16, 2010
I am very happy with this product. Sounds and works great. I listen to my iPhone music, take phone calls and even wear when I'm out running. Well worth the money. Only issue I had has been with changing the ear plugs and getting them to stay on!
Don't buy unless motorola admits to and fixes the problems with the buttons that stop working., March 17, 2010
I have had my S9 for about 2 months now. I love it for the gym. Problem is the up volume button stopped functioning. After doing some online research, this appears to be a relatively wide spread problem and it appears that Motorola has not fixed the problem in the newer S9-HD unit. Same problems being reported. Good headset when the buttons are working properly but I would not buy another one.
