Great unit. Plug in, adjust sound, and set works great with no other initial adjustments. Shoulda gone larger. Would buy another if needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top of the Plasma Pile, February 2, 2010
Amazingly sharp image, excellent grayscale, very good color fidelity, except for slightly pumped reds, and the usual compliment of connectivity are the traditional hallmark of Panasonic plasma televisions and this set is no exception. This set will not disapoint anyone except for the really picky who will bemoan the oversaturated reds. Blu Ray is truly astounding and Direct TV is excellent except for the graininess i.e. one of the traits of the channels that broadcast in 720P, which would be exhibited on any set. The issue with flicker raised by other reviewers disappears once you set the refresh rate at 60hz. At that rate the image is flicker and shudder free. While it might be a little small for a home theater set up it is unbeatable for a more intimate setting like a living room. It is a worthwhile investment and my recent experiences next to Panasonic quality have been very positive. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic Leads the Market, December 10, 2009
I recently received my P46G15 a few days ago, it replaced my 53" Ambilight from Philips, a Plasma TV that is around 4-5 years old if not more. I had done greatly of research in what to buy, as it stands there are four main categories of TVs available in the market; Plasmas, LCD, LED, Laser. All these TVs produce a their own pros and cons, I suggest you brush up on your info by going to websites like hdguru. The reason I choose another Plasma is because of their unrivaled ability to produce the best picture level. LCDs and LEDs remove a lot of the "movie" quality in the picture making it seem a lot less life like and a lot more power-driven.

There are a lot of pros on this TV, much to many to list, but some that stand out off the top of my head are; new NEO DPD panel, its energy efficient, and it comes boxed in a 2" housing(well, more resembling 3.5" housing vs a 8" housing for my old plasma). It comes with a ton of input jacks (important to me since I have 3HDMI devices). It also comes with some bonus features, which are a great living room, things like VIERA cast, which allows you to connect other Panasonic devices through HDMI and control them through one remote AND stream internet programming straight to your TV, including software updates. Although like many TVs out there this set requires external speakers for your listen pleasure, I myself choose a Panasonic 1200w HTiB.

There are a few drawbacks though. I game a substantial amount and found my games to be a bit too dark even with its "GAME" video setting. IE: In GTA4 it was night time and I was T-boned by another vehicle, I fell into the back alley of a couple of buildings off the free approach, it was so pitch black that I gave up trying to find my way, even with contrast and brightness cracked to 100 they seem to affect the screen very little at best. The other issue is THX, this is a known problem in adjectives G15/G10 models (maybe even V10?). Simply put, THX is broken, colors are washed out with a yellow/green hue, you can achieve much much better visuals through a custom setting. The last issue is 24p playback, this is a feature that as a manufacture I would not have included in my TV line up. 24p is completely unwatchable, it cause a lot of picture flicker making it completely unbearable. This makes me think who in the QA dept fell asleep at the wheel to allow such a broken/useless feature to be included. If you want 24p play back scale up to a V10 series.

In closing, I would particularly recommend this TV as being the absolute best picture:dollar ratio with energy saving features and a great sleek design, although it comes with some drawbacks its pros far outweigh them by a substantial margin. So go ahead, pull the trigger and be amazed!

Could not be happier near this tv. If your looking for true color and not the bright vividness of LCD, this is the tv for you. Picture quality is amazing, design is flawless. Most bang for the buck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic TC-P50G15 Plasma HDTV, February 14, 2010
We looked at big-screen HDTV for over a year before picking the Panasonic TC-P50G15. We've had it now for about four months and couldn't be more pleased. I've yet to see a unit with a better picture. Married the component to a Polk Audio SurroundBar SDA and Panasonic DMP-BD60 BlueRay player. Highly recommend the sound bar if you don't plan to do a major surround-sound system. In fact, suggest you try the Polk system before you spend the money on a big-time surround-sound system. We do not use our system for Internet features or for gaming, so I can't speak to those aspects of performance. The TV is in a room with lots of natural fluffy. No problem. Very good off-axis picture quality too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful TV, January 4, 2010
I spent many hours researching HDTVs and looking at them in showrooms before deciding on this one. For the price, you will not find a TV that has better color and contrast.

Pros:
- Very accurate colors at every angle.
- Deep pitch black blacks.
- Lots of HD inputs.
- Under $1,000 when on sale.
- Almost zero grimace (impressive for a plasma).
- True 1080p HD picture.
- Simple easy-to-use remote.

Cons:
- Very limited color adjusting controls.
- VGA input instead of DVI. Guess I'll need to get a video card that has HDMI out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased!, February 22, 2010
Purchased this plasma TV in early January. It was a "close-out" model still in box at a local big box retailer. I bought the concluding one in the store. We recently moved and my huge 65" projection TV was not going to fit into our new living room, so we needed a flat screen to mount on the wall next to the fireplace. I was undecided between an LCD or plasma, but decided on the latter due to the claim of a better viewing angle. The tv is mounted contained by a corner, and is watched from the living room, dining room and sometimes the kitchen, so a good viewing angle was crucial. I've had this tv for over a month now & we absolutely love it! The picture is so beautiful no matter what the source we're playing. Standard def is clear and of course, HD is amazing! The nouns from the TV isn't as bad as I thought it would be after reading other reviews. Digital quality sound thru HDMI & the TV's speakers is crisp and clear. We did end up buying a AV receiver to hook up to the TV but that was more for music purposes. I could have easily used and been healthy with the tv's built-in speakers. The viewing angle is very good, which is why we chose this model in the first place. A couple negatives about this TV to be aware of: 1) there is a glare off of the blind if watching in a sunny room. One entire wall in our living room is a window that is currently not covered by curtains or anything, so the room gets plenty of sunlight during the day. At certain times of the day, the picture on the TV is nearly washed out due to the glower from the screen, but we plan to install a curtain on that wall sometime soon so this should resolve that issue. In addition, our TV watching during the day is not too often, so this minor annoyance is tolerable for us. I had read that due to the glass screen, plasmas do give off more grimace than LCDs, so I knew this going in. Not going to 'ding' a product for something I already expected. This was a trade-off I was willing to make for the better viewing angle. I have never owned an LCD flat screen so cannot compare the anti-glare claim on those TVs. 2) This TV is difficult to keep verbs since dust shows up like crazy on the black casing, but again, this is a minor complaint for me. Only takes a minute or two to swipe it clean. My boyfriend, who did not want a new TV, actually commented on my good decision to buy this one. And all of our friends who be thinking of going the LCD route have changed their minds to going plasma, or this exact same TV. I think that's the best testament of all! All in all VERY pleased with this model and its performance. Can't imagine someone experiencing television on this set and not enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Plasma TV Choice, December 19, 2009
I purchased the Panasonic TC-P46G15 two weeks ago after extensive research of the available options. I chose Panasonic because of it's reputation as a leader in plasma TVs. I'll admit I wasn't overly impressed with the TV's picture and sound at first. My cable service was not HD compatible. However, I had FIOS installed yesterday and the TV knocked my socks past its sell-by date! The HD picture is amazing and the sound is impressive. Consumer Reports had given the TV picture an excellent review and the sound a poor review. Once the FIOS box was connected to the TV with a HDMI cable, the sound improved considerably. I had thought I be going to need to buy a home theater system soon, but now that I know how good the sound is, I can take my time in choosing a surround sound system. Bottom line: connect your HD cable/satellite/fiber optic box to the TV with a HDMI cable. You will be hugely pleased with the results.
