LG INFINIA 60PK750 60-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with Internet Applications Reviews

For the money, one of the best, if not the best 60" plasma out there!, July 20, 2010
I've had this TV for about a week now -- for the money, I feel this might be the best tv out there.
This tv was purchased from a fulfillment by Amazon deal, for beneath $1,450.00 -- now we're talkin the newest model Infinia plasma, and 60" at that! Sure, there might be better tvs out there, but in this size, you'd be paying close to a $1K or more. As for the TV iself:
Coming from and 9 year old projection screen Toshiba, the picture quality, in a bleak setting, in Blu ray or an HD source program is simply breathtaking! Some nature programs in HD are mindblowingly clear and vivid -- it's that good...mind you I'm not a super duper picture analyzing person...I just know what looks good to my eyes and it looks really good. I am a picky party in general and would notice if the picture was poor, but it's just not the case.
TV is in a very bright room, light adjectives day and yes, there is glare -- some programs (dark ones) might be difficult to view during peak sun hours. However, in my case, the TV usually isn't watched until after 5pm when we're back from work, etc, and by that time, the picture is fine. If you're extremely particular about glare, this might be the only real negative that I can find. It's pretty bad, but then again, it's still better than than my old projection tv contained by this regard. CNET noted the bright room performance of this plasma isn't that great, and I can see that being the case.
But if the room is in a darker setting, the picture is very bright, contrasty, and well saturated. Colors are wide and vivid. Black levels are very good for me -- I suppose they could be measurely better, but most likely not at this price point. Settings are numerous...wireless works properly. No problems with 24p Blu ray material, etc. Picture is smooth and fluid. Unit runs a bit hot on top back panel, but not too bad -- can't consideration any heat, unless you're more than a foot away. As for buzz, there is a low buzz emitted at the top back panel near the edges (I think) -- you can't really hear it until about a foot from the tv (and really from the back), otherwise, you can't really notice. In a silent room, I have to strain to hear it (if that's even what I'm hearing); wth the HT system on, you definately can't notice anything.
Aesthetically, I touch this TV is at the very top of the long list of TVs out there -- it's just plain beautiful in its simple, single glass pane desgin -- LG's are some of the very best looking TVs in broad -- at about 2" in depth, it's very impressive...
All in all -- I'm very pleased and looking forward to a long time watching this beauty. I'll post an update if anything goes wrong beside the set, etc, but hopefully, all will be smooth sailing. Best bang for the buck in my book!
OK, but False Advertising involved, May 8, 2010
If I purchased this TV based on the current information available, both on Amazon and LG's website, I might give this TV a better review. That being said, I am extremely disappointed that I researched and reviewed and came to the conclusion that this TV was the best purchase for me based on advertise features. Those features that were advertised, but not really available were the TruBlack filter as well as Skype availability and being 'wireless internet ready'. When I contacted LG about the false information available, all they told me was 'sorry'. Both Amazon and LG's websites have be updated to include only the correct information.
Besides those facts, I must say that I am pleasantly surprised at the picture quality. I am now into approximately hour 120 or so and the quality is very impressive. I spent time with the picture 'display' menu to tweak the picture and I LOVE it.
The menu is very undemanding to use. Set up was simple. The TV looks very impressive. We do not have it wall mounted. It is so sleek and slim that it takes up much less room on my stand than our previous TV. Haven't used the internet connection yet, because I'm waiting on the required LG only wi-fi dongle. (big disappointment there)
Wished I could bequeath it rave reviews. I wanted to love this TV. I spent lots of time researching, pouring over reviews, specs, etc. only to find that this isn't the TV I thought I was getting.
Bottom line, GREAT price for a good picture, very large screen, and lots of features.
Update....
Received the LG wi-fi dongle. Not very jammy to set that thing up. I couldn't get it to connect to my network that was security enabled. I was able to enter the network key, but it wouldn't connect unless I disabled the surety.
After disabling the security temporarily to utilize the NetCast features, we loved them!
VUDU movies were unbelievable! We watched several HD movies through VUDU instantly. The picture and sound was UNBELIEVABLE. No waiting. Movies played with no 'stopping' to catch up. Picture was PERFECT.
My single complaint about Netflix was the fact that you couldn't browse the Netflix available movies. The only thing available (unlike when you use Wii or Playstation to view Netflix) is your Now Playing Queue.
NetCast was easy to use and our favorite was VUDU. LOVE that factor.
Disappointed about the lack of Pandora. Disappointed about the difficulty in setting up the wireless dongle.
Still overall pleased with this purchase!
Great TV But Not Perfect, April 4, 2010
I think that the LG PK750 is a wonderful television. It comes with great features such as Netflix and Vudu video streaming. This is one of the best looking televisions on the open market. The glass on the TV covers the whole front including the edge frame. Looks somewhat like a MacBook Pro screen. Picture quality is about average for a plasma television. Black levels are worthy, but there is still room for improvement. I wish that LG could have worked more on eliminating screen glare. I also wish that the screen be a little brighter. If the screen was brighter then it would have helped with downgrading screen glare. In count, the press release from LG released in January 2010 states that this television will come with the TruBlack filter, however, the specs on the website do not list this feature. After having numerous top of the line televisions, I resembling this LG television because of its unique look.
Amazon's service was once again wonderful. Thank you Amazon for great customer service.
4.18.2010 - The television has developed a somewhat loud intermittent buzzing sound that can sometimes be very annoying. I have lowered my rating for the product.
Incredible Picture No Major Issues, May 19, 2010
Did the the ridiculous level of research and narrowed it down to LG & Samsung plasma. Have a far-reaching long room requiring many viewing angles. The TV itself is setting on an corner stand. The view is spectacular from all angles. BUT have had issues with the very top line of the screen. While watching the report NBCHD I will occasionally see very thin white lines at the top of the screen. Not sure if its TV or broadcast related. Watched Avatar via Blue-Ray using cheap HDMI cables. The whole family was blown away at the picture quality.
Overall is especially happy.
Sound great without buzzing. Must use degaussing magnet on power cord.
Seem to have more Internet functionality through a cheap ($100) LG blue-ray than TV.
