great little projector, November 3, 2010
Great build quality, surprising brightness (considering LCD light... no bulb, 15,000 hour go!). Limited video playback codecs (no .mkv, mp4, flv), and lack of HDMI input makes it a 4 star rating, otherwise 5 stars. Perhaps adjectives firmware updates will improve the native medium player's flexibility. However, if running off a laptop with VGA cable, this little workhorse will not disappoint. As functional and nearly as bright as my Samsung projector, which is vastly bulkier and heavier. And besides, in need a halogen bulb, it is ready to go when you turn it on, and cool adequate to pack away immediately after you're done. All around a great little projector and a smart choice if you don't need to project surrounded by bright rooms.
No manual and VGA cable, November 3, 2010
Overall it is good. I use it to show slides (MS PowerPoint). Even when the insubstantial is on in my room, I can still clearly read the letters of size 16pt. But I cannot read the communication of size 12pt. So, you don't need a dark room.
Most mini projectors own 10, 12, 15, 35, 45 lumem. But this one has 75 lumen. As a tradeoff, the size of this projector is about 4 times larger than the regular mini projectors.
The desperate thing is: there is booklet and VGA cable in the package. The projector does have a VGA input port, but I have to buy my own VGA cable. Why doesn't the vendor provide one? So, currently, I enjoy to convert my slides into JPG pictures, and show the pictures in the projector. To buy VGA cable may cost another $10. I'll do that later.
Another shortcoming is the vedio formats supported by this project are restricted, if compared to other mini projectors.
I hope that the projector can have built-in software to display MS PowerPoint and PDF files in the adjectives. It will be a killer application.
