I have been looking at getting an LCD projector and finally took the plunge.
The upright news is that it is small and can produce a very view able image, color is pleasant and definition is hugely good. I have be using this at 3.5 meters and the image is nice and large. (75 to 80 inches). I keep watch on in subdued lighting and brightness no problem.
I got this to study xvid videos off the pattern rather than firing up my Infocus X9, and does that no problem. (Yes I like to keep under surveillance a big image). I was pleasantly surprised at how good TV looked from playtv through my ps3 using HDMI. This is necessarily 4x3 projector so I crop 16x9 images so the full screen is used (I similar to a big picture remember). I now use this rather than my Infocus to monitor PlayTV. Very responsive driven by ipod too.
Also because it is small when the wife is out I watch her TIVO in the posh lounge hehe using an HDMI extension.
Bad word is the fan is noisier than I was expecting. If I did not own my surround sound loudish this would be irritating. The little speaker on the projector only suitable if you were selling something. The USB and SD input too sluggish to be practical unless you were selling something presentation caring of thing. It has no Audio out.
This would hold been the EEEPC smash hit of projectors if it had some open-handed of short throw lens (to get that big picture from your coffee table) If it had an Audio out. (So you could plug contained by your headphones while it is on your coffee table. 16x9 would be good too.
Ultimately still great fun, and if you travel around you could obtain a home theatre thing occurring in your hotel room. Good stuff.
