5.0 out of 5 stars First Product From BenQ!, June 12, 2010
I have to say that this product is simply amazing! out the box I be pleased with the picture quality and I have to do minimal tweeking to make it look "custom!" I quickly hooked up my Ps3 and played Season 20 of the Simpsons Disc 2, The HIGH DEF episodes and agree to me say that it just blew me away; granted I be projecting an image of about 90inches or so and the wall have minor imperfections. The brightness is acceptable and be perfectly watchabe with the lights on. I set the storm lantern mode to economy, and let me enunciate that there is a slight difference in brightness, but that will web you another 1000 hours of life, granted it the lamp doesn't run before that! The look of the projector is elegant white leather texture and look a moment ago perfect! I do have one complain though, near is no lense cover, as we all know the lenses are rather fragile and prone to scratch. I am quite happy for my purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best projector I hold owned yet!!, June 8, 2010
This projector I am using right now I enjoy my computer hooked up to it thru a onkyo 1007 and it is fantastic. Brightest projector you will find at this resolution and price range. Plays movies beautifully and games resembling no other. Handles HD and non hd with ease. I enjoy had it and used it for 1800 hours so far and the bulbs are good for 4000 but basically like a light bulb they can turn at any time.

A few things people need to know for a long vivacity span is
1. Do not turn on if your only gonna use it an hour or less.
2 Do not turn past its sell-by date and on the projector shortens life span.
3. Do not use during a thunderstorm ever seen a reading light bulb glow brighter and then after that burn out?

I turn mine on and use it every night for atleast 8 hours a day. I enjoy never had a bulb blow on me ever outta the three I have have. I even went over the lifespan on my second one buy 1800 hours!!

Bulbs go discouraging usually in the first 100 hours if they are gonna prematurely go unless you do what I said not to above. I enjoy it on a 120" screen and I could not be happier.

Also if they give you a replacement bulb craft sure you use it, after your first bulb has 100 hours on it use the second for 100 hours

1 Its the right bulb :P
2 It will make it previous the 100 hour mark.

Also just so ya know how long and I do enjoy it I was the first to have this projector and reviewed it on AVS forum you can see it here.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding projector, October 19, 2010
I've owned the projector for about 3 months, and hold about 450 hours on it. It is my first projector, and I am exteremely happy beside it. I have it ceiling mounted about 13 foot away from a 120" DA-LITE white screen. The brightness is excellent, even on economy mode. I keep watch on baseball and football in HD, as well as Blu-Ray, the HD picuture is excellent. I would outstandingly recommend this projector, especially for less than $1,000 (I got mine on AMAZON for $937)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Affordable Projector, August 6, 2010
I've have this now for a few months and every time I use it I'm reminded how worth it is. I've got it paired next to a 12' wide roll down screen and a Playstation3 and the picture is simply amazing. It works best contained by a dark room but I can use it in the year with the blinds drawn and a bright setting and it's just fine. I don't stir to movie theatres anymore and just wait for stuff to come out on Blueray. It's the singular way to watch movies or play video games. If you use it out of the box the pre set settings aren't in truth the best for movies, they're good for Games and TV but in blueray films the skin tones look adjectives weird. Here's a link to a pattern site with a very angelic calibration for movies. [...]
Which brings me to the menu, it's not the most intuitive but once you set it up once, you don't have to go final and you can switch between modes using one button on the remote. The remote is good; all the buttons lantern up and all the controls are available. It's not programmable though and won't control any other components. Noise wise the section is very quiet unless it starts to obtain too hot. At first I had it set up in a cabinet and the adherent would go full blast, now it's on the ceiling and I don't hear it. When I first get it, I suffered from colour wheel effect; when you see rainbows in high-ranking contrast scenes. This had me really worried as it be kind of unacceptable, but after a while I stopped notice it and now have forgotten in the region of which is apparently what happens. But be warned; if you invite friends to monitor something, they might complain about seeing rainbows. Probably they're just domineering because they spent double or triple on a flat screen TV to have a much smaller and worse picture.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible customer service!!, June 8, 2010
BenQ have a promotion for the first DLP projector I bought, where you got a free extra bulb, a $400 convenience with it. After the bulb went out, I tried to replace it near the free bulb, and they had sent me the wrong bulb. I tried to have it replaced, and BenQ said they would not donate me another one. Terrible service, I will never buy any BenQ products again. Peter Lemoine

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good Home Theater projector, July 4, 2010
The projector perform better than my expectations, beside the default setting out of the box the picture has awfully good colors and the clarity is excellent. I will say that after the burn within time of the lamp the projector has a much better color and contrast. I bought an Optoma HD20 past this and had to returned because of an overheating problem. So far I had own no problems with this and is a very low projector compare to the HD20. The light output is very honest but limited to a complete dark room. I did not see the rainbow effect.

5.0 out of 5 stars BenQ W1000, June 15, 2010
I've owned this projector for a month and a partially. It has worked flawlessly with no issues to speak of.
It's quieter than my Optoma HD65 near a much brighter and vivid picture.

With a little or a lot of mercy you can tweak the color and image to what ever floats your boat.
The W1000 has terrific color and depth, along beside sharpness I've come to really appreciate. This unit does use a 2 times speed color wheel. Those sensitive to RBE may want to look at the HD20 or Vivitek. A LCD projector could be your best bet if you're impressively sensitive to RBE. The great thing about amazon is the enjoyment guarantee.

This is a VERY bright projector! At the present time it is the brightest 1080P projector available under 3 grand.
This give you more leeway for ambient light to be present contained by the room. You can eat at the dinner table and still enjoy your movie or show lacking trying to eat in the depressing because your image is washed out by the ambient wishy-washy.

I like the fact this component has its own speaker. My nephew loves to play Xbox. We just plug the Xbox directly to the projector and past its sell-by date we go! Nothing like playing video games on a big screen. The speaker is plenty loud enough minus disturbing others in the home.

I've spent many hours tweaking and calibrate the picture. Here's a few settings that may or may not help you.
I've found it to give me the best symmetry of color, brightness and contrast so far.

These are settings with the projector 14 ft from the screen next to lens wide, lamp hrs of 216 and 120 inch Favi matte white dignified gain screen. Black levels and contrast will deepen as oil lamp ages. 100 hrs of burn-in will make a difference for the better in skin tones and black level.
